Booking

For high season (July–October) and festive periods (December–January), we recommend booking 9–12 months in advance. The Presidential Lodge and Riverfront Suite book out first. For low and shoulder season, 3–6 months is usually sufficient, though we always recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred dates.

A 30% deposit is required to confirm your reservation. The balance is due 60 days before arrival. Cancellations made more than 60 days before arrival receive a full deposit refund. Cancellations within 60 days forfeit the deposit. Cancellations within 30 days are charged at 100% of the booking value. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance.

Absolutely. Solo travellers are warmly welcomed at Kaskazini. A single supplement applies to the base unit rate, which is 60% of the per-unit rate (rather than a full double-unit charge). Please contact our reservations team directly — we frequently find ways to manage solo supplements sympathetically.

Yes. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. A 3% processing fee applies to card payments. Bank transfers are accepted without surcharge. All prices are quoted in USD. We can also accommodate payments in GBP, EUR, ZAR, and KES at the prevailing exchange rate.
Accommodation

Yes. All suites are fully enclosed when required and are patrolled by our ranger team throughout the night. Canvas walls are reinforced and zip securely. We do have wildlife visitors — occasionally an elephant or zebra wanders through camp, which is part of the magic — but our experienced team manages all interactions safely. Guests are always accompanied after dark.

Yes. All suites have 24-hour power via our solar and backup generator system. USB and international power sockets (Type C, G, and I) are provided. Our WiFi covers all suites and common areas — speeds are optimised for video calls and streaming, though we gently encourage guests to unplug and be present in the bush.

The Safari Villas and Presidential Lodge have full climate control. The Tented Suites have ceiling fans and are naturally ventilated — canvas breathes exceptionally well and the lodges are positioned to capture prevailing breezes. Most guests find the temperature in the suites comfortable without air conditioning. Electric blankets and hot water bottles are provided during cold season nights.
Experiences

All accommodation rates include: twice-daily game drives (dawn and sunset), all meals, selected beverages (house wines, spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks), laundry service, and access to all lodge facilities. Not included: premium wine and champagne, curated spirit tastings, spa treatments, optional activities (village walks, photography safaris, mokoro trips), park fees where separately charged, and gratuities.

Yes. Private vehicle bookings guarantee you sole use of a Land Cruiser and your own dedicated ranger and tracker. We strongly recommend this for honeymoon couples, photography enthusiasts, and families with young children. Private vehicles allow complete flexibility on route, pace, and timing. Please request at the time of booking as availability is limited.

The greater ecosystem we operate within supports Africa's Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros — plus cheetah, wild dog, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra, and over 400 bird species. Sightings are never guaranteed (this is wild Africa), but our rangers' intimate knowledge of animal territories and behaviour means guest sighting rates for the Big Five consistently exceed 95% over a three-night stay.
Arrival & travel

The most convenient arrival is by charter flight to our private airstrip, which is 12 minutes from the lodge by vehicle. We coordinate with all major charter operators and can arrange full flight logistics from Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi, or Zanzibar. Road transfer from the nearest town is also possible (approximately 4 hours on good roads) and is included in packages upon request.

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam (DAR) are the primary international gateways. Most guests connect via Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta (NBO). From any of these airports, charter flights to our airstrip take between 45 minutes and 2.5 hours. Our reservations team will coordinate all transfers once your booking is confirmed.

Neutral-coloured lightweight clothing for game drives (khaki, olive, beige — avoid bright colours and white). A warm fleece or jacket for early morning and evening drives. Comfortable walking shoes. High-SPF sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. A quality camera if you have one (telephoto lenses recommended). Personal medication and insect repellent. Evening attire is smart-casual — no formal wear required. We provide laundry service so you can pack light.
General

Kaskazini warmly welcomes children of all ages. Our family suite is specifically designed for multigenerational groups. Children aged 6 and above may participate in game drives in private vehicles; shared drives are for guests 12 and above. We offer a dedicated junior ranger programme for children aged 6–14, a children's menu, early dining options, and babysitting services. Please advise us of children's ages when booking.

Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of Kaskazini's operation. We run on 90% solar power, use a closed-loop grey-water recycling system for gardens, source over 70% of food from within 50km, employ predominantly from neighbouring communities, and direct 5% of all revenue into our Conservation and Community Trust. We are members of GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) and LEED certified.
