Est. 2012, Tanzanian Wilderness

A Lodge Unlike Any Other

Kaskazini — the Swahili word for North — sits on a remote escarpment in northern Tanzania, overlooking a river that has sustained life for millennia. We built our lodge to disturb as little as possible: stone from the site, timber from sustainable sources, rooflines that disappear into the tree canopy. What we created is a retreat that feels inevitable — as though it has always been here, waiting.

Conservation at the Core

Wilderness Preserved

Every booking at Kaskazini directly funds the protection of 45,000 acres of wilderness. Our Conservation Trust employs local rangers, supports anti-poaching operations, and partners with community schools. We believe that luxury and responsibility are not opposing forces — they are the same intention.

We have stayed at luxury safari lodges across Kenya, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. Kaskazini sets a different standard entirely. The team anticipated needs we hadn't yet identified. The riverfront suite delivered a soundtrack to sleep by that no app could replicate. We returned home changed in a way that is difficult to articulate.

I came to photograph leopards and left with images I could never have planned. Our ranger, Joseph, had an almost supernatural ability to predict animal behaviour. He positioned the vehicle perfectly for the light every single time. The photography safari package is worth every cent for a serious wildlife photographer.
